During gameplay, the player may be introduced to the regions that include the 100 largest bodies in the Solar System, the nearest 1000 stars to the Sun or the nearest 70 galaxies to the Milky Way. Real simulations include the Solar System, which includes the eight planets, five minor planets, 160+ moons, and hundreds of asteroids and predictions of future events such as the Andromeda and Milky Way galaxy collision which will occur in 3.8 to 4.5 billion years. Simulationsīoth realistic and fictional simulations appear in Universe Sandbox, with each area of outer space being placed by default or according to the player’s preference. If Copernicus and Galileo were alive today, they would surely delight in exploring the sandbox for days on end. All this is presented in a gorgeous visualization with a very elegant user interface. Players can select any of these objects, view their properties and even change them, seeing how changes impact trajectory and orbit, and how the object would interact differently with other objects. Universe Sandbox may take the award for most literal name - well, maybe it if were prefaced with “Amazingly Effective and Detailed.” In it, players can experiment with an immense 3-D simulation of our universe, including its galaxies, star systems, planets, moons, and comets. The original Universe Sandbox was only available for Windows-based PCs, but an updated version was released for Windows. 4 years now? I'd buy it in a bloody heartbeat if I saw it on sale.Universe Sandbox 2 Free Download RepacklabĪnd other objects in the universe, such as moons, planets, asteroids, comets, and black holes. I get that the scope of the game far surpassed what they'd originally intended, so I am okay with paying for it again, even with features missing, or broken.įull price jives with me, however. The only reason it's an issue for me is that I recall US2 was originally planned to be given to US1 owners for free. you might want to either hotfix this, or remove that bit from the store page. i increased age to up to 10000 G years in various incriments, but no supernovae. set age to 0, then mass to 8 solar masses. i just used the sun in realtime solar system sim. I will almost always reccomend a complete product over an incomplete one, especially something in steam early access.Īlso, i notice the store page claims that in US2 we can cause supernovae by increasing the age of a star. however, as US1 is a complete product, one assumes that all buttons on the UI function and function correctly, which already is a big advantage over US2. i understand that in US2, everything on the galaxy tab is a "we'll get to it later" priority change/fix.īut, to be completly honest, i dont have very much of a basis for comparison, never having actually played around with US1. I'm curious which features do you think are better in 1? foremost and most obviously, anything at all to do with galaxies. Our goal is for Universe Sandbox ² to suprass the features of Universe Sandbox Legacy. 2 is "prettier," but 1 actually has better features.Īt the current rate of releases, i estimate it's going to be another 3-4 years before 2 is even on par with 1, let alone surpasses it. Plus, if you have US1, you dont really even need 2. but for a new product which was a completely seperate development cycle? nope. I can see a discount for an "expansion." base street fighter 2 to championship edition, for example. If you bought a car with a certain set of features, if a new edition comes out later, with features you also want, you think you should receive a discount? if you want a new product, you must pay again. In that case, should they not at-LEAST offer a discount on the new one? why? you have the first product that you paid for. As I can recall, there was an initial plan to include this with 1, but it ended up requiring additional funding due to the increased scope of development. That's the most I'm willing to pay after buying 1. Originally posted by Tosslehoff:$15 usd, $20 cad, if I were to buy it again.
